ENJOY ESPERANCE
Whilst in Esperance, take in our coastline - it’s one of the best in the world! Lucky Bay has been voted the 5th best beach in Australia. If you are lucky (ha ha) enough you can see the Kangaroos strolling along the beach and campsite. Yes it is true and not trick photography (see photo!!). The blue water will take your breath away and the sand is pure white, the beaches must be seen to be believed. Take a trip to the National Parks, find the winding walk trails, climb Frenchman’s Peak or drive your four wheel drive along the squeaky beach. There are two tour operators - Eco-Discovery Tours and Aussie Bight Expeditions that can take you to the beaches, town centre and even up a very high rock - not for the faint hearted, hold your breath!! Our local Aboriginal resident can take you on an authentic Kepa Kurl tour to learn about our Aboriginal heritage. Or if you love the ocean as much as we do, enjoy a half day boat cruise to Woody Island with Mackenzies Island Cruises - a family company operating in the area for over 50 years offering day cruises through some of the 105 islands ( including Woody Island ) of the magnificent Recherche Archipelago

Adventure land Park across the road will keep your kiddies amused for hours. It has grassy parks for kicking the footy, ducks to feed, a whale to climb, miniature railway train to ride on, mini golf, skate ramp and fishing or swimming at the beach. Recently opened is our Bird and Animal Park, a ten minute drive away, a must see especially for all children who love to feed the animals! The Bird and Animal Park is open on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 10am to 4pm. Kids can cuddle cute rabbits and guinea pigs, handfeed the animals, and the family can enjoy a drink or a snack in the cafe or on the verandah surrounded by bird life and the tranquility of shady trees. Only 10 minutes from town. Ph: 08 9076 1067. While out on the road call in at Helm's Arboretum and wander through the myriad of tree species there.
Take a drive out to the Acacia Gardens & Games (Open Fridays - Mondays 10am to 5pm - Keenans Road (off Great Ocean Drive) 9071 3002) and wander through the gardens, relax by the pond, enjoy the abundance of native birds or test your skill and patience on the puzzle boards. Our Leisure centre has a fantastic pool for all aged children especially the little ones. Don’t forget a movie at Fenwick Cinemas or the Esperance Library for all those interested minds. On a perfect summer's day there is nothing better than a day at the beach and in the evening throwing a line in the water to catch whatever you can in the bay.
We have a file on fishing in our town in reception. Most beaches have fantastic beach fishing areas if you bring all the gear. We have a couple of fishing tours available or if you want to pick a jetty to sit on (including Bandy Creek) then there is no better way to watch the sun go down.

You mustn't forget to drive along the Great Ocean Drive. A good morning or afternoon will be spent calling into all of the beautiful bays. The Rotary lookout is a wonderful place to start to get your bearings and then take the 20 minute walk along the newly built boardwalk which gives you a view of the island like no other. Twilight Beach is your next stop if you didn’t call into West Beach and catch a wave. Kilometres of white sand to walk along and take in the scenery. Five minutes along is Observatory Point which is another viewing point. The windfarm isn’t too far away before you head inland. You can stop off at Pink Lake and imagine how beautiful it was to be a brilliant pink all those years ago. Your drive then takes you into the back of town and to where you started from.

If you are a coffee fan or even enjoy a cuppa then you must stop off at the Tanker Jetty and visit Shane and Laura at the COFFEE CAT. If you are lucky enough you can see Sammy our local sealion feasting on the remains of someones catch.

Another hidden treasure of our town is our beautiful lake system. Too many to mention here but our Visitors Centre has wonderful brochures on the many to visit. Wildlife, bird watching, wildflowers, board walks, walking trails to say the least – a must for a beautiful day.
